A/C blower transistor demolition. I should say that the original transistor was date 1985, so not a bad run ! ;

Question for jps635, if I may [-o<

Just received the hood pad and curious about the instructions, that indicate using wax paper after spraying the adhesive on :-?

Did you do this process :-k

And did you spray adhesive on both the liner (pad) and hood :|

I wasn't planning on having to mask off evrything under the hood [-X

Thanks, and thanks for letting me high-jack and ask these questions [-o<

Basically I followed the instructions for the 3M 90 adhesive.
I didn't remove the hood, but covered everything I didn't want adhesive on. Sprayed both surfaces (one section at a time) and let dry until tacky - just a few minutes, and of course with any contact adhesive line up carefully before applying.

Use the wax paper when doing the centre section, unless you have a helper to hold off one half as this section needs to be applied from the centre so that as you roll outward, you can press into the raised ridge in the hood. Be carefull not to stretch the liner as you apply, else this area will tend to let go when heated. (I did mine twice. The first Time I could only get 3M 80, and this was where it let go)

The decal is quite tricky to keep round as the outer edge of the emblem is very thin, so peel the backing off slowly and as close to parallel to the liner as possible. Apply low tack masking tape for centering marks.

Also, I used the thin version both times and happy with that. Can wipe it down with a damp cloth to keep it looking good.

Thanks jps635, should be "fun" #-o

I will also be using the 3M 90 version, just happen to have some and I inquired with the supplier and they said that would be fine to use =D>

Wish me luck

Now back to your regular programming

Hey no worries Bobbo !

Haven't updated here in a while as progress has been patchy. I did re-install the A/C evaporator and whoo boy, what a biatch of a job. Got it eventually though and now on to the A/C specialist to make up some hoses, purge and re-gas.

I've also just ordered the K-Mac rear camber bush kit as she has a camber of over +4 degrees at the rear. No idea how to install these things but will have to do some research.

I'm collecting parts to attempt to make my AC usable during Florida summers. Could I get the part number of the compressor you used? I do not want a cheap Chinese copy.

Thanks.

My apologies I haven't been around here for a long time. I still have the car and planning further works when I build my house and large shed in the hills. To answer the above question the A/C compressor is a Sanden SD7h15. You would need to find a reputable source to avoid cheap Chinese.

Question on the blower transistor. Is the top metal plate pop rivited in place? When I did mine I drilled out the transistor but left the plate attached which made the soldering a lot harder. How hard was it to remove and reattach?
