One of the most important (and expensive) things I did in redoing my 6 was a brand new tank. My old one was in pretty bad shape. They tried to save it, but it kept "shedding" small pieces of rusted metal through the filters, causing stalling and general poor to non-performance. Also, at my shops' suggestion, they installed one pump. I read on here that was a mod that was worth doing.

No, the conversion involves eliminating the external high pressure low volume pump, and replacing the in-tank low pressure high volume pump with one high pressure (higher than the original) pump that goes in the tank. A Walbro (genuine, not fake) is the pump of choice, although there are other brands that will work.

Pretty sure it's the same for M30/M88/S38. Ask one of these guys with the M635s/M6s.

I imagine the Moderators consolidated all of your threads into this one so everyone, including yourself, can keep track of all aspects of your project without having to skip all over and search for individual threads for specifics.
- One stop reference for your project.

Sort of like this one,

Gees whoever consolidated all this has done a great job.

Anyway v8 now?
The BMW v8's are very underrated. Even the humble m60b40 can make good power if released from the shackles of the factory tune. The s62 would be an orsome engine to install and they are much more reasonably priced from the USA than any s38 or even s54.

If you have the budget the v8 from the e92 m3 is lighter more compact and revs to 8500 standard so abit more sporty engine but probably double the cost.
