1982 635csi auto

Post by Bobmoore »

Its my first post here although I've been a voyeur here from while!
I have an 82 635csi auto, last of the e12 models with 53k , and i've been plagued with the upgrades or original conflict...so i think the car deserves original, warts and all as it were.
Current wheels are later 5 series , so they definitely have to go ,and I'm just waiting on delivery of bbs 009s (from an 8 series) from a fresh refurb , so ill post some pics as soon as..
I'm inspired by the depth on knowledge on here and the willingness by many, to tackle every and all issues, so i would like to do as much of the work myself as is possible.
Car coming out of storage next week so ill post some pics then

Welcome, Rob! I admire anyone with an E12-based E24 that's determined to keep it original. It gets harder every day, as have the E28-based E24's upkeep. More and more stuff is "NLA". :(

tell me about it
e12 parts up there with hens teeth
Thought the bbs wheels looked vintage without the drama of actual original wheels.
Brakes bits easily got, Suspension and Steering not so.
Everything works fine , but i guess, start collecting the parts i may need ,is a positive mantra.
It was a one owner Uk car for 26 years before it emigrated to Ireland, and is in a bit of a time warp condition as it was garaged all its life, however
there is some rust on under sides of sills (localised) which will need attention as i feel like a custodian now.
If any one here knows of any contacts anywhere in Ireland who would tackle the bodywork , i would be very grateful
I don't mind giving it to a body shop ,but i would prefer giving it to someone who "cared"
Thx again
