Nice is right

Curious about that rotisserie type of rig you've got there :-k

Also interested in those rear skirts, not that I need them, but others might be [-o<

Nice fab work, wish I had the means =D>

Hi,

The rotisserie is a German product called Liqui Kipp (wagenheber), it is becoming rare because the guy who made it has a patent on it and closed his firm ( he went sick and I think he died) so there is no more production. If you can find one the price will be + 1000 euro's second hand, so more than it was sold new.
But is easy to use, it takes about 45min to set up and 2min to get your car on its side, it is powered by an electric drill and is made for vehicles up to 3.5 ton. You have to take the battery and the brake fluid out, if you leave the car on its side for more than a day it is best to drain the oil.

The rear skirts are made in Belgium by Van Wezel, they are 30 euro's a side and fit reasonable good, it takes some work to make them fit perfect but for the price they are very good.

Great job in the repairs-- interesting to see mine looks pretty similar in terms of rust and age-- maybe less rust to repair although I don't know that I can do it like you did.

Car looks great!

Hello, I am starting to rebuild front and back axle, I want to replace the rubber bushings and I found a company who has all the bushings for my series 1 in poly.
Does anyone has ordered parts with Histo Mondial in Germany? Any feedback?
Prices seems to be good.

Almost ready to pull the engine out off the car, took the intake off, what a pain.... and I saw a white reversed J and oo in stead of an L.
The engine should be an M90, has Motronic 1.0 ( 0261 200 002), any one an idea what the reversed J and oo means?
Or is this an sloppy L, but what with oo ?

Yes, pulling those intake manifolds are a challenge. That paint mark looks similar to what is on M90 from my series-one with Motronic 1.0.
The small double oo on yours is interesting. You can look and see if there are numbers that match the last digits of your VIN stamped on the flat boss above the starter mount. This would confirm that the car has its original block.

The last 7 digits of the vin are the same as the marking on the block above the starter motor, so the block is original to the car and is from octobre 1980 = M90.

No idea what the oo means ....

Lovely work mopar!

Very impressive and I'm also impressed with the rotisserie! Very slick.

By the way, I have an unrelated request.
If you have any photos of that cloth interior, it would be great to see them.
Over here in the US, we rarely get to see anything but leather interiors.
Your car being a series-one with what looks like original Recaros really has my attention!

It was a semi cloth/leather interior , the sides of the seats are leather, the middel part is in green cloth and the rear of the front seats are leather.
I only have the original back seat, the front Recaros I traded for leather ones and I have also the back seat in leather.
Have to look for photo’s of the original front seats, will place the here.

Now I am pulling the motor out, the trans is allready out, so the motor is coming out from the top.
Then I can rebuild the front axle, have ordered poly bushings for the type 1 axles so all the rubber will go....

What you describe sounds coincides with other series-1 cars that I have seen.

I started a new topic under Interiors titled "Cloth Interiors" for you to post the pictures in and not have me hijack your topic.

Sounds like you are making great progress on the car. It is great to see another hennarot transition car. Especially one given such detailed attention.

While waiting (looking for) other pistons for my M90 I had some valve cover fun this weekend, cleaned it and painted it (a bit):

It took my thoughts away from the pistons.

I believe that pistons or no longer available for the M90 engine. The very few adds that I have seen for new old stock pistons have been priced above custom fabricated pistons.
I am curious to learn what lead you to seek new pistons. Perhaps a collapsed piston skirt or a badly scored cylinder wall?
IIRC, your original pistons are first (+00) oversize at 93.44.

My piston are grooved vertical from bad oil maintenance and driving hard with a cold motor, pistons expand quicker than cast steel so they grip to the cilinder wall.
I saw this when I took the pistons out and the owner of the shop where I took the blok to for flattening the top warned me about it.
So I looked for new or good used pistons to finish the rebuild, I found good used pistons with a bigger bore so it will be 93,75mm now.
New pistons are expensive and it can take weeks or months to have them ready, I hope to have the used ones next week so I can order new piston rings for them and the rebuild can go on.

This is great news that you were able to source pistons for an M90 without resorting to custom units over there in Europe. Unfortunately our options here state sides has proved much more limited.
I look forward to additional posts as your project progresses.

An update on the engine work:
The head is machined, valve seats and valves are grinded, the cilinders are made bigger and the block is shaved, now the pistons are 94,75mm.
Crankshaft and piston rods have new bearings.
Valves and rocker shaft are back in the head, 3 pistons are back in the block, I am waiting on the delivery for 3 sets of piston rings +0,40mm (11251304933) to finish the job.
All new seals and chains, thicker head gasket +0,30mm, one M90 almost ready for a new life.

Came across one of these “It’s a Jack” tilting jacks (similar yet different) for sale in Calistoga last year it’s more supportive than I had imagined. He was using it on his 911’s & a LandCruiser FJ45 pickup without issues mostly for detailing.
