I have Opened a BMW Wrecking Business on The Gold Coast

Post by Ozibimmer »

Hi Guys
I just wanted to share the news with you all regarding my Business My good friend and myself have opened.
Its a BMW Wreckers that will specialize in older model Bimmers.
We will have Every model from the 2002 to the E39 with later models also but mainly early models.
We have the premises now and will be opening the doors on the 1st of July but we are selling now.
Its been 12 month of prepping to find the right premises, the one we have found has ample indoor room plus 4 offices, 2 x large store rooms with a nice modern reception room plus plenty of display area.
The main reason for this was a lack of older model cars for parting and old school service that myself and Ken (my business partner) will strive for.
The idea of what we are doing here is as soon as a car arrives it will be completely disassembled into pieces and packed and stacked on our racks. All parts such as motors and gearboxes will be tested before sale and all small parts will be vac packed.
I have 3 x 635s now with one of them being a 1980 series 1 E24 635 in black.
I also have a white one which is a 86 model with another one one the way due to arrive within a few days.
We now have purchased
3x E24
1x E21
2x E30
3x E34
2x E36
2x E28
1x 2002
1x E32
1x E23

Plus dib's on 6 more by next Friday with 4 of them being later models than 2006.
I will have a fully functioned Workshop with a 2 post hoist and looking at a 4 post for outside.
We also have a large outdoor area for around 15 cars that will be fenced to use as storage.
Here area few pictures of work in progress.
Sign writing and workshop stuff to come this week.
More pictures to come this week as all the shelving and hoists arrive.
We have also spent a bucket load on new stuff like OEM parts, filter, seals, clips, panels, gaskets, and much, much more.
The place is much larger than the pictures and there will be no cars stored in the shed so what area you see will be for parts only with enough room for the cars to get in workshop area and hoist.
Oh and before anyone asks I will be specializing in E24s =D>

Ozbimmer - congratulations on your set up. I would hope at some stage either a parts newsletter via email or a web page setup. As a first request from me for once you are up and going I would like a dogleg gear knob for LOCUTUS. I know where the gears are but most mistake 2nd for 1st. It looks tacky having a former business card sticky taped to the dash showing correct positioning. Please let me know the price.

Cheers Vinny

WOW!!
Congratulations! I'm glad that a good part is indoors.
I can also picture some shelves, made with 2X12 plank, supported by 4X4 posts creating a second floor for all of your parts, with stairs leading to the
second floor, in your future. Make sure it's up to code though!
Or, is that the Grip in me? :-k I know,,,I'm jumpin; ahead of myself.
Good luck!!!

Hi Addam,
Looking really good. Can you post a few pics of your 2002 and what year is it?
I will have to pay you a visit and check out your stock. I also have a few older BM's so if you need something please ask. Simon Harrex often calls me when he needs older bits.

Cheers,
Al

But are you making money? We love the idea of your business but hate the idea it goes quiet.

Also, have a think about early model BMW performance parts. I need to shop around the world to get my E3 2 door racer stocked. Things like;

performance brake pads. anything e12 or earlier are not a shelf item.
extractors.
intake.
Head gaskets. Performance head gaskets are multi layered steel and need to be sourced in the USA.
head stud sets.
Any older gasket sets.

I am yet to find an early BMW model performance centre in Aus.

Just a though.

I'm sure Brian is working really hard to correct this issue.
Yours is not the only complaint rendered.
I can't even go to 'attachments' to get any photos. Of course I thought it was me.

Perhaps Addam u can use a photo bucket or Flickr account to upload photos them all u have to do is link them as an IMG. Will be handy for eBay linking etc as well. Saves massive bandwidth for the forum as well

Oh and btw I have my 6 back. When will u have pallet/skid loading ability. The boys down here are looking to put this dogleg in.

Oh and Addam do u have any wheel spacers there. The guards are massive on this e23 I picked up so to put the throwing stars on I need 12mm at front and 30mm at rear or 25mm at a min.

Hey Addam... good luck with the venture. It's a great idea and is filling what I believe is a bit of a void in the market, certainly here in Oz.

Actually I'm looking for a set of manual sports seats for an early 635 to replace my comfort seats.

Have you got anything in stock that might do the trick?

What sort of seats were in that black 1980 6'er on your site?

Cheers...
