Oh that is harsh. True but harsh. The 633 will undergo a full mechanical resto this year. I have purchased......

1. A dogleg box. Should be in the office tomorrow. 5 speed special.
2. An S38B38 with 360hp and complete rebuild with zero kms.

Here it is below packed and ready to ship. It is the one from Iceland where Svein, did a complete rebuild for his E30 but then decided to go the bi turbo motor for even more hp. This is the photo of the box Svein made me to ship it over. Still another 6 weeks in a container ship. I'll either get greg Young or Peter Simms to do the swap as seriously, there are no better BMW specialists.



All I need now is the open sideloader diff.


Oh Ben, want to run with me? Happy to pick you up on the way and share the driving. As I said, for me, it's all about catching up with good friends. I'll pm you.

The weather looks like it might be a touch inclement tomorrow, nothing too bad though, but if it's raining around lunchtime then we might go a bit further on to Avon Dam as i think there might be shelters there. There's bugger all at the spot we plan to stop at in Bargo, just an open paddock with a bin (fairly scenic though).

If you've got a chair that can fit in the boot of the 6er (it's a bloody big boot, you could get 2 dead bodies in there) then bring it as unless you want to sit on the bin there's no seats.

According to the weather bureau it 18-20C tomorrow across Sydney, cloudy, rain, heavy at times. Whats everyone taking tomorrow for grub? Are we burning anyone's cows or shall we take potato chips rolls cold meats and have a sharing and caring love in type arrangement??

I'll just take sandwiches.

All four calipers rebuilt. Brakes still holding so probably parking brake, which will more than likely boil my brake fluid during the run.

So, after fixing the car, mechanic backs into it!!!!! Cripes, will drop it back into him for repairs after the drive. Rear of boot lid hit in and paint missing.

We just normally take whatever you want to eat for yourself rather than an all in type of thing so i just bring my own cold grub. We leave the all in table full of food for the bbq days. One forecast i've seen promises wet weather, another mentions just the chance of a light shower while another has little or no chance of rain so come prepared for anything. Like i said, if it's wet at lunch we'll look for a sheltered spot.

We've had some interesting days with heavy rain and even once had a proper flood with Ellis stuck in rising water and Ben and i trying to push him out against a rising torrent. My word it was fun

Paul's wife Emma here - Paul has just rung me - he's stuck in the shopping centre car park with a completely dead car waiting for the NRMA.
He sends his apologies but there is no way he will be able to get sorted.
Hopefully you all look at this before you leave as he doesn't have anyone's number.

Casualty number 2. I cannot get the car to start. Worked on it until 11 last night and for an hour this morning. I think the motronic has died.

A thousand apologies gents, i really am gutted at ballsing this up. I went shopping early this morning, filled the car up with groceries by 8 , got in to start the car and it refused to fire up. The engine was turning over and over but it wouldn't catch. I got under the bonnet fiddling with every connection and relay but still nothing until the battery was close to dead.

I rang Emma to get her to post about the problem and waited for the N.R.M.A who finally turned up at 11, (they are flat out with this damp weather). We went to the car, opened the bonnet and with the last gasp of battery i turned it over and the bastard leapt into life with not a problem. Stunned i tell you. The N.R.M.A bloke could see nothing that hinted at the problem ( he liked the car greatly. i hated the fucker), the radiator fan was easy to stop turning so he said that needs looking at but as for the starting issue, buggered if we knew, it's not done it before.

Next week i'll take it to Bee-Emms and see if i can get it sorted and have another go at this drive if anyone wants to risk me organising it again.

While i was waiting for the N.R.M.A a nice blue Bentley Continental went passed (they must have been lost in Merrylands) and i would have swapped in a heartbeat. I bet that beauty wouldn't fail to proceed in a car park on a day the owner has organised a drive.

I even lusted a little bit after a red HSV Clubsport Wagon that drove passed as it wasn't too garish as that was running too and i could fit my bike in the back of that without taking the wheels off. I don't think it would last as long as the 6er though.

I hope to see you all soon with everybodies car running perfectly. Hope yours turns out to be minor Steve.

I would start with replacing the DME relay. This is what provides power to the Motronic. Next step, fuel pump, particularly if it has been noisy lately.

Great drive yesterday through the drizzle to Avon Dam via the Oaks Hotel.
Josh sans brakes, my car with a dodgy idle (now with Loctite on the throttle adjusting screw), and Andrew's trusty M6 which didn't miss a beat. Garry and his lovely wife Sanna also came along as far the pub.
Thanks to Paul for arranging our day out.

I'm glad you saw Emma's post so you knew what was going on. Next time i'll make sure i get everybody's phone number so if there's a problem i can at least contact you all.

The plan was if this one went okay that early next month we were going to go up your way to Bathurst with lunch at the Tarana Hotel as that's always an enjoyable run.

I dropped my car off at Bee-Emms this morning at 6 before doing my bike ride so they will have a surprise waiting for them in the morning. I can't see a problem with having everything sorted in the next few weeks so by the time early April comes around i shall really be hanging out for a good drive. I was so looking forward to this one even with the ordinary weather and when the car wouldn't start i was absolutely gutted.

I shall take the Saab to the shops next time.

was great fun in the wet. We did miss you Paul but this is just an excuse to do another run in April.

My brakes went again. Andrew, Trev and I reckon I need to change the master cylinder and the booster vaccum lines. I'll also rebuild the two handbrake drums on the rear.

Actually on line now ready to pick up a new booster and vaccum lines. Hopefully this fixes it as even with four completely rebuilt calipers, the brakes got spongyer and spongyer until I had to pump the pedal 15 times to get about 20% stopping power.

I'll post more photos during the week but it was really wet and we only stopped for 1 photo shoot so Trev caught most of the action.

The next run? Let's book it in in the next week or so, April or May. Any ideas?

A Bathurst run in April would be great - count me in! It was great to meet Sanna, Gary, Trevor & Josh on Saturday and I totally enjoyed the drive. I seemed to have developed a slow puncture in the front OS tyre which is a bit of a bugger. Thanks for organizing the drive Paul and I look forward to meeting you on the next one. Hope Bee Emms sort your starting problem without too much wallet woes.

I've never seen yours and have only briefly seen Trevor's before it disappeared behind a wall of black smoke trying to climb towards Mount Panorama. If he made it down to Sydney and then to Avon Dam then i assume it's fixed

Bee-Emms have mine now. Hopefully something falls apart in their hands as trying to trace an intermittent fault can be a problem.

Well we never turn anyone away who turns up in another BMW or other make for that matter but i'm not interested in hoards of poorly driven E30 shiteboxes leaving pools of oil all over the place like in the ECCA days.

haha i have a shit m635 and a shit E23 I may go and purchase a low oil leaking E30 just for the trip.

Oh and by the way are we allowed to drive in NSW on victorian club registation. I better check on this not nice to get a fine and tow to the border.
