Bathurst via Tarana. 12th Of April 2014
Hoping for better luck next time, i suggest a trip to Bathurst via Tarana on 12/4/14 where we'll have lunch in the Tarana Hotel. Meet at the tourist centre opposite Richmond airbase, 9 for 9-30 departure. The route is here..
No it's not
I'll make sure i get phone numbers of some of those attending this time so if things go belly up it's easy to let you know. Fingers crossed my car at least will be back to its usual 'shit off a shovel' profile.
*edit. I can't seem to get the whole route to paste in to click on and it's made the post wide and pretty much unreadable but the plan is to go up Bells Line, cut across Darling Causeway, down the mountains and then left at Sodwalls Road and Rydal into Tarana and then the back way from Tarana to Mount Panorama via Tarana, O'Connel and Lagoon roads. In the past we've stopped in Bathurst for a pot of tea before heading home so there's that to look forward to.
*edit, there's a post in the Gallery of the day. Twas a corker.

Hi guys, Just a heads up. I have organised a run to Bathurst with the BMW club for Saturday May 3. We are going from Windsor up the Putty Road then to Denman, through the Bylong Valley, Kandos, Sofala and into Bathurst for an overnight stop at the Quality Hotel. All are welcome to join this (you do not have to be a member). At present I have 2 confirmed 6er entries and I am likely to take mine as well (it is more comfortable for Sana than my e12 M535!). This run is part of a bigger run to Dubbo, Moree, Walcha and home (6 days) but there are some people who are just doing the weekend.
So I invite all big six coupe enthusiasts to join us and humbly ask if we can morph the April run into May 3? If not I can join in the April run until lunch (again! Working those nights)

Hi Gary,
I'd prefer to keep the date for April and the route the same as that gives us a good full day without trying to do too much. Tarana is not to be missed either.
That's a good route you've chosen though with some great scenery. Kandos and Rylstone make for a great detour when going up to Mudgee.

If we can firm up a date this would be great. 12th or 5th works for me. There is a rumor there could be a Victorian 6 and perhaps a few from the Gold Coast as well.

So the 12th it is.
My wedding anneversery on 10th so I'll be in the good books. I'll confirm in makin the trip 2weeks before. I have a 3.07 or a 3.46 LSD I can put in so the trip as the 3100rpm @ 100kmh won't be ideal for a 2000+ km round trip.
What's the authority for rego in NSW. I have to check whether VIC club permit is ok for driving on NSW road system.

Each state registration authority is "supposed" to recognise out of state registration - even historic - as long as it complies with the registration requirements of that state. The Vic system is a better system than the NSW equivalent so just keep your logbook in the car. If you are pulled up for any reason, just explain that you are attending a club run and all should be fine. I would also just check your insurance to be safe.

Vic Historic Club Rego is recognised by NSW. Again, on the incredibly rare event you are pulled up you need to make sure that you have met your Victorian Historic plate requirements. Here we need to log the drive in with the club and if we are ever checked they call the historic rego guy to see if we are logged in. Luckily, Gary is often with us and I'd love to say, "sure, he's standing behind you".
We once did a drive south during Canberras summernats. A few of the 6'ers got pulled up and had quality inspections but not me. Still, would love to see you come along.
Best

Cheers guys. Looks like rego is all good. Just have to repair wheel bearing and install 3.46 diff. Then should be good to go. I never have done a long trip in the 6 before so it should e good fun

No worries Gaz, if i remember then i fit a 4 foot stepladder in the boot which gives a great perspective of the cars. I can just imagine going arse over tit when standing at the top of a 7 footer especially when that ape Ellis is standing at the bottom rung shaking the damn thing.
Nice photos Mr Hoad, i wonder what happened to Greg? I fear the lovely red 6er is sitting in a driveway in Blacktown rusting away to oblivion.
