Search for an M635

Hi chaps. I have just joined the site and have to say.......wow, fantastic place and people offering all sorts of help. I debated about posting like this but then thought, "what the heck". :)

I am a past owner of an immaculate black 635csi which was completely rebuilt. The engine had been massaged at Ray Gulsons and she was a strong performer. I loved that car but sadly, the ex wrote the vehicle off back in the '90s :( Real life took over, as it does, and ownership eluded me. I am now in the position to change this :)

I have just started the search for an M635 here in Oz and OS If anyone is selling, or know of a sale, I would really appreciate a PM. What am I looking for ? I don't mind buying somebody else's dream. I don't mind performance or safety orientated mods. Though it is tempting, I really don't have time for a big project. Thus, a total clunker is out. I certainly don't have a problem paying a fair price (up to my limit).

Vehicle would be going to nice, sunny, dry, rust free Perth and be cared for by an enthusiast :) If anyone has leads or ideas, please let me know.

You should really post this in the "Cars and Parts Wanted"

Anyway, not an M and absolutely no connection / car and seller unknown; but rare I guess.

Thanks jps. The above was more of an intro than anything else. Thats a nice looking S6, and might be a steal at 20k, but I am pretty set on an M635.

There is one for sale 18500us in Canada on these forums just recent. Sorry I can't link it as I'm on iPhone.
I think there are a few local bigcoupe members who could possibly check it out.

For memory u need import approval and would also need to pay 10% gst ontop of all the costs incl shipping.

When landed here u may need aust compliance which would mean side intrusion bars locally made seat belts and no R12 gas in the AC. Would also need side blinkers if it doesn't have them.

Not sure In WA but here in VIC we can club register our cars that tony have Full Australian compliance just import approval is sufficient.

Yep Gaz, I've got detailed information on importing to WA (from the UK at least) and quotes from go to whoa. I may just clarify with the authorities about side intrusion bars as I don't recall them replying about that requirement. Canadian car would be LHD yes ?

Yes.

Link here
http://www.kijiji.ca/v-classic-cars/oak ... nFlag=true

Its actually 16900 US around $21125AUD at conservative 1aud=0.80usd.

on top of that it would cost roughly 4k to get here and GST so say 25k+gst=27.5k landed approx.

I would want to check out if it has rust as that would be a deal breaker, but otherwise it looks clean, and even has original metric BBS rims included.

I had to install side intrusion bars in my doors for rego. They are fitted as standard to 635CSi cars that were Australian delivered. There is only 24mm clearance between the outside of the window glass and the inside of the door skin so it is not just a simple matter of wacking a piece of pipe in there like they do on Jap imports. If you can get original 636CSi doors that will provide the lightest and easiest solution.

I saw that Canadian one and that might be an affordable base to build on. Is RHD conversion a possibility ? I imagine by the time that was done the cost would again be up there.

The cheapest way is definelty getting a local RHD one.
But finding someone who will part with theirs is the hard bit.

Prob is locally with the e24 having racing history everyone loves them and you pay overs. As they get older their prices will go up. The m635 prob north of 75k in a few years. Even humble good condition 635csi autos will get into the 40's.
