With 12:1 comp it seems that cam would give 12.45mm lift which should make nice power.

Do u have fly cut pistons for clearance.
Pistons are fly cut but clearance is limited. May need to take them out, machine and put them back, which is a pain. Still, the triple weber DCOE 45's are running a 41mm choke. They came with a 37mm choke. Mick had to de-jet them so the head and in this case the warm street cam is restricting flow. And this is Matt's stage 1 ported head with warm cam so made for 180kw and I want 220kw plus.

Do you have a contact for PPM? I may investigate this further.

Hi Shipper. Im using a 314 degree cam that i got from Ireland Engineering.
I am running about 12:1 compression ratio which allows me to use either 100 octane or 98 PULP with a bit of octane boost in it..No pinging was evident on the Dyno..
The 535 head sits perfectly on the block and everything lines up...or seems to anyway.. By doing that i didnt need to go to the expense of putting bigger valves in the older head...
Yes from a purely historical point of view a set of slide injectors would be nice however i am not sure if they would be serviceable these days as many were cast magnesium... On top of that you would have needed the fuel pump ... And then you need to do a LOT of reading on how to tune the bloody thing...
I started out using a 3.0 diff which was pretty hopeless at the small circuits out of corners so i have just changed it to a 3.95 diff which should be a massive difference. I am going to try it out next week as i am entered in the mount Coo-tha hill climb in a few weeks in the historic section.. My biggest issue right now is steering it as i have converted it to rack and pinion to give me more room for the extractors and this means i have a non power steering setup which can be tiring to drive...In fact it is like wrestling with a gorilla right now...Anyway i hope to have that all sorted out by the end of the year...

Hey Robert,

So it's a B35 head with the bigger valves and not the b34 head. Okay, good to here everything lines up perfectly. although this does reduce compression as the later head has some 5cc more per cylinder in volume. Decking the head and a thinner head gasket solve that though.

I'll go a 314 degree cam. I'll contact Ireland Engineering and have a chat or PPP in Melbourne if Gav get's me the right contact details.

I did have a 3.73 diff but it was either half a gear too tall or too short around Wakefield Park racetrack. Hopefully the 3.45 locked diff works well with the 5 speed dogleg and I'm changing down to 4500 rpm in corners. Nothing worse than being either at 2500rpm or 6500 rpm due to the wrong diff.

Would love to see some in car vid of your next hill climb. Hope it goes well.

Thomas from ppm doesn't have any. Order from cat cams is best bet. EU delivery is normally reasonable and quick.

Race car nearly ready. Rear duck tail on although sent back to fix paint run as seen in photos. Boot lid prepared. Holes in it ready for wing. Wing prepared and ready to go on.

638CSi so close but it's like getting teeth pulled, and then pushed back in and pulled again. E28 rear subframe in today. Then need to hook up speed sensor from E28 LSD to car via a signal filter then into ECU. Putting e34 540 brakes on, calipers and disks. Power steering lines back on. Electrics for fan. So so so close. Last of all exhaust. Paid for but not in. What a ship fight.

E3 Racer duck tail photos below. Roof Hoop will be modded later in the year, painted blue and fitted. Will do a few track days without this strap for now.

Need to catch up with all you guys soon. Ideas? Breakfast? Lunch? BBQ??

My 633 with the S38B38 is nearly ready. Was down in Melbourne today and have decided to project manage it myself. Currently Creative Custom Cars in Dromana Victoria have it and Alan Howe is doing a smash up job. In 3 weeks his equaled the last sow 17 months worth of work and has a great hourly rate!

I'll post in the "My Project"section tomorrow re car but;

1. engine in, needs electrical specialist to finish.
2. e28 subframe in.
3. e34 540 rear disks and calipers in. Have the big fronts but will wait. Dollars!
4. New drive shafts in this week.
5. race rear sway bar in this week.
6. New brake lines to rear this week.
7. Fixing handbrake. What a mess.
8. Hook up rear LSD to speed sensor to Dash to ecu for 370hp plus.
9. Battery to boot.
10. Rear floor strengthened.

Next week back for exhaust. Then a week of driving in Melbourne and ironing out the bugs. Then driving her back.

So how about early November. 1st or 2nd weekend.

Paul, Ben, Ellis, Team Serco, all the other cool dudes with 6'ers, suggestions? Happy to head to Windsor way to make it easier for Trev or Bowral for Ellis,

Let me know.

Josh

Oh Ellis, The car now sits level with the e28 subframe, no more nose in the air as I take off!

Andrew Fishtail Fisher has a race event at SMP (Eastern Creek) on Saturday October 31. Gertie will be on show there.

Nearly ready, one more attempt at rear ducktail painting and she'll be right to race.

Trev,

My car is so Close I can smell it. I'm keen on a November drive but want the car to be running so will hold on a date. Hoping we are super close next week.

Had to order a later digital dash from Addam to run the speed sensor through to the ECU and awaiting its delivery to Victoria where the car is. Then I'm right.

Email in the office this morning from Creative Custom Cars. Their auto electrician (who had 3 days to finish the car) has gone on a 10 day holiday without telling them. So there. Take that. I might ship my dash and M635 spolier down and get them put in/on while I'm waiting.

Addam is sending down the later speedo gauge (2 dial, so another change to e28 from e12 for Gertie) si we'll be right to hook her up when Auto electrician comes back.
