Ahhhh? the trials and tribulations of owning a 6 series. :-)

Well, I?ve encountered hassles of a different kind.

I placed the embroidery order for the caps about 10+ days ago and was told that would give them plenty of time to complete the job.

But as ?Murphy? would have it, they left it till the very last minute and now ?we have a problem Houston?!

Firstly, I was quoted on getting 30 caps done, and that was the $10 per cap price I mentioned in an earlier post.

But because I had firm sales of only 20, I reduced the order to 20 and proceeded.

However, the proprietor failed to tell me the unit price went up because of the reduced number.

Obviously I complained when I was told the total and they reluctantly agreed to reduce the total bill a little. So the sad news is each cap will now cost $11.70. Sorry!

But it doesn?t end there.

I picked the caps up this morning only to discover they couldn?t bloody spell ?Moama?! They?d spelt it ?Moana? ? the same as a beachside location just south of Adelaide. Idiots! :x

Now, a staff member has to manually remove the offending ?n? and replace it with an ?m?. But of course they won?t be ready until we leave on the Friday morning. So I have to pick them up from the employees residence early on the Friday morning ? thankfully it?s on the way.

So my apologies, but the cost of the caps is now $11.70. Hopefully no-one will be deterred from purchasing one of these unique and much sort-after items of apparel?

See ya in Echuca!

Cheers?

How frustrating Mark! I'll bet you did a double take when you noticed the spelling error!

Well, my car has been started 5 or 6 times since yesterday and the relay is holding out. Mr Serco has kindly offered to check at the local Pick N Payless to see if he can find a suitable replacement; thanks Allan!

I'm rather thankful of my self levelling suspension. My boot is literally full to the brim & the back seat has car fridges, and there's a 2m long tent running from the passenger footwell to the back window. Probably not a huge amount of extra weight - no more than 100kg I'm guessing, but enough to make the SLS pump kick in when I start the car.

Looking forward to daylight savings concluding this weekend - it's bloody dark at 5am when you're packing your car!

No problem with the increase in hat cost although we may have insulted the Moama residents. However the Moana residents would love us to drive through wearing our caps.

Gertie is now ready to rock and roll!
1. Front right caliper rebuilt and working fine!
2. Air in the spare tyre!
3. Four replacement tyres off of my E9 CSi.
4. Wheel alignment and balance.
5. Engine oil replacement and filter.
6. windscreen wiper water pump fixed. We have water captain!
7. Woodwork 101 rear speaker covers, covered in blue vynal to match the car. Looks great for $5.76!!
8. Steering wheel swap with second E9. Now a sports timber wheel!
9. We have a horn now so watch out. Fixed bad wiring and no did not take a viagra!

She goes hard, fast and loud for a non modified 633. Really looking forward to this now!

See all tomorrow!!

I'm loaded too, not financially of course, you can blame the 6er for that but the boot is full of...erm...stuff. I have enough time to bung another layer of wax on so i might as well.

See you all tomorrow/saturday. Safe trip down/up all.

Well I think we're pretty much good to go here too, serviced, fluids changed, tyres checked, toolbox packed and pretty much sorted.

Gave the car a wash and polish myself the other night but made a complete pigs ear of it so it's getting redone by someone less ham fisted today.

Bloody typical in the run up to these things though, my rev counter has stopped working randomly. Probably not got time to pull the dash apart to have a look at it before we go but not exactly a biggy if that's the worst to go wrong on the trip.

I still don't have 100% confidence in the car making it up and back under its own power purely because this is the first time it'll have had any decent length of drive in my ownership, although it's running really well for the most part with a minimum of strange noises as to be expected from a 32yo car. Have got the trailer organised, but am getting tempted to give it the benefit of the doubt and try to drive the 6 up myself with my other half and mate who's coming along fo the trip in the Discovery taking the trailer up empty as support vehicle just in case.

Also got round to wiring in the stereo so i can finally have some tunes on the way too, got a couple of VDO 6"x4"s that fitted perfectly in the factory holes and don't look too out of place for the princely sum of $42... :D

Looking forward to it.

Al,

Check the ground terminal on the coil.
If you take it off, give it a bit of a tizzy up, you may get you tacho back.
Mine was a little notchy a while ago, so i did that and it came good.

Unfortunately I cannot get to Echuca, due to the heavy rains our renovation timetable has been thrown back a week.

I wish you all very safe travels and will enjoy seeing your photographs later.

Mark I am still interested in a cap. I can send you payment or pay into an account, just let me know which is best.

That's a shame Matt. :(

Please let me know the model and where you got them. I've been searching for suitable speakers for some time, most 4x6's are too deep or the magnets are too large.

I'm absolutely knackered, I decided to detail the car and it took me most of the day. I haven't seen my handiwork under direct light so I've no idea if my work reduced any paint defects. :?

Ah well, final packing of the car then I'm off to bed.

See you all tomorrow.

JB Hifi - Only seen them at one store though. They are VDO HSP 4621's and a perfect fit in my early 6er....

Just incase it's covered in crap by the time we get to Echuca tomorrow here's some evidence that my car was cleaned prior to the event! Sure we'll pass through a mud storm and plague sized flock of faecally incontinent seagulls on the way up now, so here's my proof!!

i think he's going to the GP to catch up with my brother, not too sure though.
I'm feeling like crap today and have already been at work for almost 4 hours, so i might end up heading off early and going home to play with the 6.
just needs a wash and a tidy up, i might even try to get the other brake duct in it.

Can someone let me know what the saturday plan is?

i searched through here (not very well as i'm lazy) and couldnt find a mention of saturday....

Hoadie dropped me a message yesterday saying you'd be in Bendy-go.

if thats the case, i want to try and get there

And this for the Sunday
http://maps.google.com.au/maps?f=d&sour ... 84&t=h&z=9

The Saturday route is fairly short which gives us time for photostops, chats, grub and back to Echuca in the afternoon to park all the cars somewhere prominent while whoever wants can have a look around town doing the tourist thing.

Sunday's route takes in a different part of the country and is a good driving day but still with plenty of opportunities it seems to stop and break the journey.
