Mountain: BMW 4 Corners Meet & Retreat - August 3rd 2012
Come one, come all, to the 2nd annual Midwest BMW gathering in Pagosa Springs, Colorado! The small mountain town provides the perfect atmosphere to cater towards an event like this. Sitting right next to the Continental Divide, the town of Pgosa Springs gives a perfect mix of curvy mountain roads, and a vaction like atmosphere. Whether you are a fellow BMW nut liek me, or just a family with a BMW, this is a great place to meet some new people, and have a great time.
Additionall, our gracious hosts Neel and CK, have once again offered their hotel to us. Discounted rates will be given to everybody, along with room preference, and VIP access to the bar.
Last year (the first annual) was a great hit, with people coming from multiple states, and this year we are looking for even more representation!
Last year included a few group acitivities such as the trip up Wolf Creek Pass, and then the group ride up to the Continental Divide! We also had a great time at the local brewery for group dinner, along with the BMW Short Filmfest that culminated in the Showing of Rug Cunningham's La Carrera Classic-- something you really don't want to miss! In the morning, relax at the local Hot Springs, where the hot soothing waters are said to aid in the rejuvination of the body.
We had a great time last year, and I'm sure Neel has got some more awesome ideas for this year.
The date is set for the weekend of August 3rd, 2012. Feel free to arrive at you convenience!

I have the lined up to be posted in the local MotorSport Report, hopefulyl getting an bigger audience.
It would be neat to caravan down...
There are some people on mye28 expressing interest, so we should have a group willing to head down together... Would be great to see another shark in my rearview mirror!

Well, you can never schedule something that everybody can go to.
But there's a new development. I have heard there may be a mountain drive to the gambing town of Ignacio. Should be fun.

Bump-- we have a group heading down to the event!
I hope we can pick you up in a caravan down that Friday! A group of us in coming down from Denver to Colorado Springs to pick up more people heading to the event.
We are meeting that Park Meadows 8/3, and a group from Nebraska is heading down with us!
If you want to join, give ma a call or email 303-249-4632, [email protected]
A rough outline if the schedule:
I am going to give Neel a call later today to really hammer out the schedule-- I have just been in the process of trying to get a car ready for the event, ordering tshirts etc.
So far this is the rough outline. Neel said he was going to try and talk to his friend about settign up a deal for Horseback riding if people didn't want to go on the drive.
We wanted to start an event that was for BMW enthusiasts to have a great getaway without the need for being a BMW club member (fees and such). So anybody and everybody is welcome. The plan is for people to arrive Friday, depending on where everybody is coming from.
Settle in to rooms, relax a bit after the drive, maybe grab a bite to eat, or meet up with some other people. There is a swimming pool and hottub available also. Likely Neel, the hotel owner, will allow us to hang out in his bar to have drinks and meet and greet. I need to get with him about maybe having some snacks or food.
Everyday, included in the cost of staying is a complimentary continental breakfast.
Friday
~6:00pm meet/greet at the bar. Maybe get Neel to have some sort of food option.
~8:30pm Potentially go to the hotel hottub or Brewery, or even Pagosa Hot Springs to relax after the drive down. At the brewery, eat food, maybe take the tour??
Saturday we will likely do a mountain drive, we have to iron out the location, but he was talking about the gambling town of Ignacio potentially. There is also hiking, and the continental Divide/Wolf Creek Pass. In the afternoon, we are looking at a Forced Induction talk (by Ken Hawkins who has the 700hp E28 M5), along with a car show/ BBQ. This leads us into the evening, and we will likely do the BMW Moviefest like we did last year (in the bar). Of course Neel will allow us to watch this on his 72" flat screen, and people can mingle etc.
Saturday:
~10:00am Leave for mountain drive, go to Ignacio, Continental Divide, or some place
~4:30pm Ken Hawkins FI discussion
~5:30pm BBQ/ CarShow. Hang out, eat, mingle. Potentially have a car show with prizes.
~8:00pm BMW Moviefest with The Hire and the La Carrera Classic and more.
Sunday
~12:00pm Checkout/leave
In the meantime if some of these things don't sound appealing, you or your family can go to the Pagosa Hotsprings or other activities, as outlined in the thread above.
Shirts are going to be printed this year, so I will have those for sale, it should be a good time! Looking at about 35 going to be available.

Something about starting off a trip in a clean car does something for the soul.
Thought this was interesting.
A little appetizer before dinner. This was a sample of all beers they offered at the little restaurant we went too. One was Jalapeno Brew, very interesting & flavorful.
Passed this on the way home. Hmm... Pitstop???
