Harbor Freight sockets not up to snuff

Post by sansouci » Sun Dec 03, 2017 7:47 pm

While removing a tire, I twisted off the HF "Pittsburgh" 3/8 wobble extension. These lug nuts were always hand tightened with care so I know there was no pneumatic gun involved. Maybe 3/8" was too small, but this was not a Jesus bolt or anything.

Thought it would require a minimum of 1/2" drive.
They are ALWAYS rustier than you thought!!!!!!

You are probably right. One busted extension is proof of that.

Take the pieces back. They'll replace it, no questions asked.

3/8th drive is too small.

I think what exacerbated the stress is that the "wobble" extension is narrower than a standard straight extension.
But it will go back for replacement and I'll use my 1/2" impact set in the future.
