Hi there,
I'm thinking of changing my Volvo 480 Turbo for a 635csi. I read up about the tyres being metric
What tyres and how much am I looking at for these? Can the alloys be changed to take diff tyres?
What else should I look for on the 635CSI? I hear front wings rust rather well.
Many thanks
Martin
What tyres does the 635csi use?

You wouldn't be the same Martin Holmes who organised the Birmingham Superprix in the 1980's by any chance? Probably not, but I just wondered!
All 635's would have been supplied originally on metric diameter wheels, which obviously neccesitates the fitting of metric rubber. Nowadays its horrifically expensive, so most owners change to imperial sizes, either 15, 16, 17, 18" rubber.
The different diameters provide differing levels of comfort, grip etc.
My two 635's run either 235/45/17 all round, or 235/45/17 front, with 255/40/17 rears.
If you have a good flick through this part of the forum index, you'll find plenty of info, differing opinions etc.
Also, on bigcoupe.com itself you'll find great buying advice etc.
Once again, welcome!
Dave :)
Well, there is the 2796cc unit (628CSi), and going even further back in time, the 3210cc engine (633CSi).martinholmesuk wrote:|...Does the engine come any smaller or just 3.5lt?...
Note that the 3.5-litre comes in three variations:
3453cc, 12-valve, up to April 1982
3430cc, 12-valve, from May 1982
3453cc, 24-valve - M635CSi only (UK-spec RHD from 1985)
