Looking for a TRX tyre in Melbourne, Australia

Post by 635_au »

Hi,

I have a great set of TRX rimes and tyres, recently bought for cheap. They have good tyres on them but one has a split down the inner wall. I’d like to replace the tyre.

Does anyone have available in Melbourne?

Alternatively, can the rims be rolled or modified to accept imperial 17 inch tyres?

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris
The TRX is the only tyre to suit those wheels, they cannot be rerolled to another size. Contact Paul Humpage in Sydney, you will find his posts in the Fests Down Under section. Paul is a great supporter of these tyres and has contacts to purchase them.
Cheers

I have a perfect never used trx tire, although I live in the USA I don't know what shipping would run, let me know if you're still interested and I'll send some pics your way.

Don't we wish! And that's $429 for the below-pictured smaller 390 tire, without shipping! The 415 is even more ($529 currently).

To answer your question, Chris, no, the rims cannot be modified to fit a standard 17" tire.

The rims can be modified with new internal and external barrels. The modified barrels are about $1400 usd + shipping so not really wallet friendly. How much would u want to sell them for.

I didn't realize he had three-piece rims (or does he?).

The one-piece cast/forged Metric ones cannot be modified by turning or rolling, at least not easily or safely. I've seen the centers cut out and adapted to other barrels, but I'd imagine that will cost more than just buying a new set of TRX tires. All he needs is one tire. Although that begs the question if they are really good tires he has. If they are originals, or even replacements, they are OLD and probably unsafe if they weren't new in the last few years.
