Let's make this a bit easier, guys.

My goal with this thread:

• -Make it easier for someone to find rims they like. Especially uncommon ones.
  -Find what may be necessary to prepare their car for said rims.
  -Save time.

Let's try to make a compilation of everyone's favorite looking rims on the 6er.
List in a format so that there's no unnecessary stuff, so it's a quick picture with basic information.

-Name of the company that produces the rim and its model number
-Rim dimensions
-Anything necessary to make a rim fit (ie. Fender rolling or Hub Centric rings)

FOR EXAMPLE
(Stolen from viewtopic.php?t=24681)

• -BMW E38 Style 5's
  -8x16 on 225/50/16 tires
  -Should pop right on.

Eventually we can make a huge list of all the possibilities once we have enough posts.

-e31 style 8
-These wheels came off a 850i.
-They are 16x7.5" with a 15 offset,
-Best tire to run without rolling is a 205/55/16
-They fit e28s and e24s as well.

-Staggered 2 piece style 5 RC090
-originally from a e39 528/540
-17"x8 front 17"x9 Rear 74mm hub
-offset et20 Front, et 26? Rear

Tires - Front 225/45/17
Rear 255/40/17

You will need hub rings to run them on e24


Unless you find the e31 850i model has 72 mm hub.

My wheels
BBS Style 5, 2 piece
Front - RC 090 8 x 17, et 20 225/45ZR 17
Rear - RC 091 9 x 17, et 20 265/40ZR 17
Tires - Continental Extreme Contact DW (dry/wet)
Custom after market center hub hex nuts, that are not as tall but 1/2 height, RS center.
I like this wheel as it has a smooth rounded outer edge where it meets the tire.
And no old style steel wheel lip to attach the wheel weights, like on the BBS RS.

C'mon everyone, the first day we had two posts. Nobody else feeling like contributing?

style 5's or alpine 17's, take your pick. the hartge 3 piece 17's are nice but pricy and all others look out place in different degrees. This car somehow benefits from a lip on the rim, flat face rims don't work. concave as in the BBS RK's look good too but maybe a little too modern. Just my opinion...

Beyern 5s (now out of production) on my '85 635CSi. 8.5 x 18 with 235-40-18 on front, and 9.5 x 18 with 255-35-18 on the rear. No modifications to the body, but needed 25mm wheel spacers to bring the wheels out to E24 offset, since they were E36 fitment (et45).

Thank you but a slight correction, those are an early set of staggered 17" Alpinas ..... not the later "softlines".

Here is a set of RH Toplines that I salvaged by having the faces machined.
They remind me of Mercedes AMG wheels.

Oh shit! I've never seen these, I love 'em! Maybe my fav e24 wheel now.
But as stated in the first post on this thread, the idea here was to make it easier to identify wheels that fit these cars ...with info, model part numbers where to procure, what it takes to fit them etc... to post just a pic to tantalize and then leave without a climax is like all the other wheel posts.

Just realized this car has the Ford Raptor fender flares! Dammit, somehow it works for me. But I don't know if it would look as good at drive height, and with real rubber. I'd never have the heart to screw those into the fenders on an e24 though...

I think they look just fine on early American muscle - but not on an E24

I don't know about best, but I was pleased with how these turned out. I bought these from a bigcoupe member and the prior wheels were ... an interesting period piece.

But I'm a guy that puts american motors in british cars, and after being at the Walter Mitty Challenge last weekend I'm contemplating a bmw 6 in my TR6!
Something about those wheels look good to me. I'll have to see them on a stock height car with rubber that actually fits the rim before I can be sure.

16" BBS RA Wheels. They are similar to the factory 14's offered on some E24's.

Without doubt, the TR would be more reliable and keep in tune! It would be an interesting project. Let us know if you decide to do it

My new to me M6 came with some pretty rare wheels. From my research these are extremely hard to find and were available mostly as an upgrade in the European Market.

Staggered FORGED 17x8 Wheels

Front 17 x 8J ET 20 235/45R17
Rear 17 x 9J ET 22 255/40R17

Those M5 wheels were never offered on a brand new E24 as they were made after E24 production had finished.
