Have a question

Post by BlackBetty »

I bought a set of BMW -90 style 5, 2 piece wheels from a member here, and they are 8x17.They are the kind with the 36 bolts per wheel that hold the 2 half's together.
Long story short, roads around here are in serious disrepair and I would like to put on some 16 Inch shoes in order to get some more rubber between me and the road.
Did the 2 piece -90 wheel , or something very similar, exists in 16 inch? I really like the look of these wheels on the car, but would like to improve the ride a bit. I have a set of 16 inch basket weave BMW 1 piece wheels around, buy was thinking something a little nicer.

I had the same dilemma when I bought mine .
I liked the look of the 17 inch RC090 but wanted a 16 inch for the same reasons as you. The 16 inch version of the genuine BBS was too expensive for my budget so I opted for a set of Remotec ( Borbet ) alloy rims in 8 x 16 size . After painting the centres and polishing the rims they are close enough to the look of the BBS 16 inch version for me .
They may be difficult for you to source in US as most seem to be for sale in Germany .
Excuse the poor exposure as it's difficult to get a good photo under fluorescent
light.

As always, Brucey provides the most common sence, as alway, however the heart wants what the heart wants :D
I will probably throw the 16 in hers on her for now, with some decent tires and keep an eye out for something " cooler ".
Dwcains, that looks pretty good, hmmmmmmm..

well there's always Style 8s if you want a nice strong 16" wheel that won't break the bank. I was looking for a nice pic of an E24 with style 8s when I found this one... mind you, ahem, those are 17" ones aren't they...? And not even style 8s either... ]

the guy that built the car above also fitted an S62 engine...

mentioned herehttp://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/showt ... 2-in-a-E24

I think he probably left it in stock condition 'only' ~400bhp ; when they fitted that same engine to the Ascari A10, it made ~625bhp....

cheers
