What would you do with a set of BBS RS007?

Post by darrylg »

So, I have a set of BBS RS007 wheels, which came with my M6 when I bought it.
I understand they were recalled because they did not hold air properly. Also, since they are sized for metric - the tires are exceedingly expensive at about $600/tire.

I'm not sure if I should sell the set, or refinish the BBS and bite the bullet and pay $2400 for tires.

Are there services which relip them for standard size tires?

Isn't the RS007 a true multi piece wheel? If so, I would look into purchasing new outer rims and making some modern sized wheels out of the centers.

You can sell me the centres only if u like.
Name a price.

I'd love to build a triple stepped set of 18" bbs rs.

The faces can be mated with 16" lips and barrels. Or they can be sold for a nice chunk of change.

Interesting. I didn't realize the centers were the same size/pattern to fit 16" BBS.

these guys have the lips/barrels. I'm going to see what they say, as far as conversions go.

There was some chap selling 16-18 conversion kits for about $1500usd. You can get any barrels / offsets u want. To make a set from my old metrics is certainly something I'm looking at in the future. It would be nice to have a wheelset that can run with no spacers, fill the guards and maximise the room.

I'm pretty sure I could fit 18x9.5 up front and 18x11 on rear without pulling out the guards. Just will need a slight massage the guard lips.

Does anyone have the original specs of the 007 wheel in 415mm?

210mm W
415mm Dia
15 Offset

I think I want to keep them as close to original as possible, so I'll go with a 16x8 or 17x9.

Do you have pics of yours on 18s?

From the quote I received:

16" lip and barrel x4 = $1600
17" lip and barrel x4 = $1920

I'll probably just do this when the time comes for new tires.

Cheers for the offset.
I've got a set of 17x8 bbs rs 302 in 17x8 et40.
They have been modified with wider ext barrels. Front now 17x9 et27 and rear now 17x10 et15. The fronts have a 25mm spacer makeing them effectively et2. The rears have a 20mm spacer making them et+5.

I'll one day make a spacer less set in 18 to bolt straight on.

Just to add, I'm running 17x9 ET9 up front and 17x10.5 ET4 at the back on 235/45/17 and 255/40/17. They do not rub but it is very close. I wouldn't go wider.

After all the time and effort to teardown and rebuild.....you will thank yourself for using NEW Hardware....Make sure you repaint the centers too ;-) !!

Once done you will really appreciate them...I have done a few and always use new hardware.
