Michelin Pilot Sport AS/3. Love them on the front of my M6.

Tire shootout against other top level summer only tires revealed the same grip, but WAY better wet performance. I will stick with PS3's from now on and recommend them highly.

I have this tire on my m6, 235 - 40 - 17 Dry/Wet

A quiet tire!

I have heard good things about Continental DW's.

I like my BFG Geforce sport comp 2's. Good price at ~$100 each in size 225/50/16.

At the Same Point myself

Post by phactory1 »

Hi all,

I am at the same decision point myself. I have a brand new set of CoupeKing Alpina replicas for ,my 1986 635CSi. I am going to go staggered with a 205/55-16 on a 16 x 7 for the front and a 225/50-16 on a 16x 8 for the rear.

Right now it is down to the Michelin Pilot AS 3's and the Conti DWS06's. I am leaning towards the Michelins.

From reading this thread it seems like I would be making the right call.

Thoughts?

TIA, Phil

I've got the same staggered setup on my car, with the Michelins. I don't think you could go wrong with either the Michelin's or the Conti's, though.

Do you have some pics Dean? I was going to run 8's in the front, but the rim was to close to the strut tube. Like less than a 1/4". Luckily, Erik from CoupeKing swapped me a set of 7's!

Thanks, Phil

Sorry I don't have the offset specs of these Ronal wheels, but they came with the car. It's probably stamped on the back, but I never made note of it. But, here are a few pics, and let me know if you need any more specific:

Looks great Dean! You can really tell that the rear wheels are wider, though they easily look more than an inch wider. I'll post some pics of mine when done.

Thanks, Phil

I'm curious to see your Alpina reps, and I'll have to note the offsets on mine next time I pull the wheels off.

This is when I test fit them onto the car. I'm going to try and get the tires mounted this week.

Those look great, especially with the polished edge, and I've always preferred the exposed lug style on our older cars.

Hi may i ask what would you run on the back on a set of original Alpina 17 s? 17x8,5 ET14 up front 17x9,5 ET24 for the rear. Michelin Pilot Sport 3 exists in the 235/45/17 but cant seem to find PS3 for the back in size 255/40/17 or 265/40/17.. do i miss something? Or you all run different brands of tires back and front? Any recommendation and advise is very welcome..Thanks!
