'18 wheels for m6

Post by Snizinskas »

Hi,

I am planning to equip my M6 with BBS RS custom wheels.

I am splitting up BBS RS 005 which are 3 piece 7j x 16 (et 11), keeping the centers and buying custom barrels and lips to uplift from 16 to 18.

My question are:

1) Is anyone driving with '18? How that does compare with '17?
2) What setup should I aim to achieve in terms of lip and barrel width (what et)?
3) What tire size would you recommend?

Ultimately would be keen to have something like Peter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFukV6S3sZ4

A number of us have 18's. I am in the camp that believes 17 is about the right size, but the 18's do look good with the right wheel.

Take a look here.

Thanks Jose.

The wheels that I will use for the conversion (BBS RS 005) have the following specs:

1) Lip: 1.5"
2) Face: 0.5"
3) Barrel: 5"

Total width is 7" and offset is ET 11.

If I upgrade the lip size by 1" to 2.5" and Barrel by 1" to 6", this, in my understanding, should not change the offset. In this case, would 9"x18 width wheel fit into the front arc?

With 8.5's, I have no room on the strut side, so adding 1/2" would push closer to the fender. I would worry about fender contact at full lock, but I'm running lower than stock.

We'll see what kind of feedback others have.
