328i Wheels???

Post by PhoenixOp »

Will 328i wheels fit an e24?

If the hubs are larger on the wheels, can I use centric rings?

Thanks

What year 328i? The E36/E46 (and maybe later 3 series) used high offset wheels (~45mm, instead of the E24's 20-25mm offset wheels), so you'll have to use hubcentric spacers of about 25mm to get them to clear the struts. The hubs will fit. The E39 was the only oddball hub size. 74.1 instead of the marque-standard 72.56.

I have 25mm hubcentric spacers on my 635 running E36 fitment (45mm offset) Beyern wheels. They fit and work fine.

Thank you very much. I don't know the year, but the price is excellent.

Thanks again

Found out, it's a '99. Hopefully not an e39.

Just did some research over on the Bimmerforums. It seems that an e39 is a 5 series (I think).
If that's the case, does that mean all 318i's will fit?

Thanks

Yes, but only with the aforementioned spacers. Remember, 'offset' in reference to BMW wheels (and most others) mean offset INWARD from center of the hub. A higher offset puts the wheel/tire further inward. E24s take a medium offset wheel. The high offset wheels from a 3 series moves the tire/wheel right into the strut if you don't compensate by using a hubcentric spacer to move the combo outward.

I hope that's not confusing.

Yes, the E39 is a 5 series.

Not too confusing. I believe the rest of the world defines offset as going out from the hub and backspacing going in, i.e. my '67 Buick Riviera, unless I am mistaken and it's the same in the U.S. and Germany.

I'm getting more info. They are M3 alloys. I don't know the style, but they look a little like M Pars. 10 double spokes. The guy is asking $350.00 obo for the set.

Thanks

Ken;

Will need 2 - 25mm spacers for the front, is that correct?

These are the wheels... I can pick them up for less than $350.00 for the set with tires.
I noticed the offsets are 47 front and 27 rear, does that mean I'll need a 3mm spacer on the rear?

Thanks for the help,
