225/45/17 on 8.5?

Post by evodrichie »

would this not be a good choice for an 8.5 wide wheel?

It will work, but the wheel lip might be exposed (depending on the tire brand), giving a very slight 'stretched' look. If may not even be noticeable depending on the type of tire. Overall it would work if you need some clearance, but a 235 may look more appropriate. I wouldn't hesitate to do it if you had tires already.

Ditto, bit of a stretch . . .

That tire would be just a bit on the "short" side as well, for a 6er :-?

But I've seen 255's installed on 8.5" wide wheels, so you "could" go substantially wider, depending on wheel offset, etc. :-k

But like Tom mentioned, if you've already got the tires, what the heck [-o<

I have a set of rondell 58s coming and have found a new set of 4x 225/45s on Craigslist for a great price. i already have a set of 255/40s for the rear wheels. Just wanted to make sure. its 4 tires for the price of 1... hard to pass up.

Depends how you drive the car, but going 255 on the rear and 225 on the front may mean that you notice more understeer.

It wouldn't be my ideal setup, but it's technically OK.

I run 225/45/17 on 8.5j et13 I think

They look perfect. I did have 235/45 which had a bit too much side wall
