Nokian z-line on 6er?

Post by wattsmonkey »

I know tyres are such a subjective topic, but I am planning to wear out the (old, Pirelli 245/45/16) rears on the M6 in short order, so will need something new pretty sharpish.

I have gone for Uniroyal Rainsports for the last decade or so, but have been reading good things about Nokian z-lines. The Uniroyals have been great for grip, but wear out quickly and offer no rim protection. My plan is to put 225/50/16s on the rear 8.5" rims with 12mm spacers to match the offset of the 7.5" fronts. Silly "de-staggering" post refers.

Spacers arrived today, by the way!

Any thoughts welcome.

Mediocre, didn't impress me. Others may have different opinions.
And then there's:

IHMO, you cannot do better than Michelin Pilot AS3 on our cars. This year, they were enhanced so now they even deal with snow well. In the dry, they have comparable g-pad numbers to high performance , Z-rated, summer only tires. In the wet, they are absolutely head and shoulders above most anything else.

Provided they make them in the necessary size, I will happily put them on everything I drive.

Thank you both, that is exactly the kind of response I was hoping for.

Most helpful - I'll be getting those in 225/50/16 soonest.

Cheers,

I've got 225/50/16 Kumho Ecsta SPT's on my E24 and "daily " too . I also fitted a set to my wife's previous car .
In non hooligan driving mode they perform well in both wet and dry conditions ,are wearing well and noise levels are no different to any other brand I've used ( albeit the roads are either great or awful down here ) . Were a reasonable price from Camskil who also have your Nokian's .

Thanks Don,

I am a big fan of Camskill, excellent service every time I've used them.

Sure they make them.

The new one is the A/S3+.

The old one looks to still be available as a closeout.
