No, it's not an American muscle car.

I see where you are going with that look, and it is really race oriented. Perhaps a Panasport wheel would give you that race look, but in a more European design? Panasports are very popular with the 2002 crowd, so there is connection with that vintage look.

I don't mind the look of the "Japanese" flares. The only problem of using 15 or 16" wheels in wide fitments is getting tyres. These run Bf Goodrich t/a about the worst gripping tyres in the wet known to man. Even in 17" you are pretty limited after 245/40 and very limited after 255/40. Well in Australia anyway.

If you do some flares perhaps make a killer set of triple step BBS-RS from your metrics. With 18" you can get all the good rubber u want. There is no point doing a s38 conversion to add speed and have the car wheelspin in all the gears in the wet.

yep now that I have made my mind up on were I'm going with the project I can start looking at this!
now I DONT want the flares cause I want to keep my chrome wheel spats NO QUESTIONS NO ARGUMENTS! lol
when you say covert the metrics to a later size, I don't want to go any bigger than 17" but 16s alow me to have some good rubber like 60r's were 17s stop me at 45-50r's!
so how much would it cost to take the metrics to 16inch and 17inch?

Your metrics are effectively 16" centres where u can convert them to metric lips either 16", 17" (double stepped) or 18" (triple stepped).

I'm looking at doing a set and I'll probably go 18" for the available rubber choices and the fact that they will fit other models like the e34.

It will cost roughly the same to do a 16-17-18. You can spec them with any inner or outer barrel you wish. The centre is also handy for big brakes as it cleares the OEM 4 piston calipers on the m635 where the bbs302 centres don't.

The only downside is the cost. Around $1600 usd + delivery.

18" triple stepped wheels with good offsets sell for over 3k usd so u will always get your money back doing a set. 17" & 16" would command good dollars also but not as much as the 18"

My m635 rides fine on 17" and no doubt they would ride probably even nicer on 16". Everyone who runs 18" on e28/e24 platform says they ride fine. If doing a wide set of wheels it will load up your bushes and other suspension components so u need to update them (nolethane) where possible.

I love those wheels on that car!! American TT! Don't like the skinny rubber though.

I actually like them in those pics. I think it would highly depend on how they match up with the car color and setup.

Edit: Not a fan of the "stance" though... those poor tires.

Style 5s with polished lips and gunmetal gray centers. That will compliment the green.
