Open Lug BBS

Post by G03rt2 »

There is no introduction sub-forum, and this is my first post. I recently purchased a 1981 635CSI Euro. It has the rims posted here. I think the gold rims and the chestnut red metallic go very well with each other, but I would like to run them open lug.
The issue is, the wheels have a large protruding hub that just doesn't look good. Is there anything I can do to cover the large protruding hub, or is it normal to buy a BBS center cap and stick it in the middle? Or do I just have the wrong wheels for running open lug?
Thanks ahead for any advice that can be given. In the meantime I might be shopping for new wheels.

Welcome to the insanity! Nice color! Chestnut is semi-rare.

You figured it out....BBS or BMW center cap if you're running without the 'weave cap. The cap from "bottle cap" wheels ( Style 13) might work.

Thanks for the welcome. The insanity started about a year ago when the search for an e24 begun. I might look into the bottle caps as you mention. I would have to find something that clips into the top/center hole.

These are the caps I was referring to. They fit in the hole in the raised hub. But get the metal OEM ones, not plastic like these.
