Offset needed

Hi does any know the correct offset for type 32 wheels on an e24
the size I want is 8x17 for 245/45x17 tires in the front and
99x17 with 255/40x17 in the rear

tyres that are the same nominal width actually vary somewhat in measured width and in addition vary with the rim that they are fitted to. Rims are measured internally, and the lips are slightly different widths, so the external dimension of rims 'of the same width' varies.

IIRC with the 'correct' offset front wheels (~ET19) some 8" rims are at risk of touching the strut directly, as are many 235mm tyres. If the overall diameter of a (wide, square) tyre is large it can scuff on the underside of the spring seat too.

If you want to fit a 245mm tyre to the front you would normally need a low offset wheel (~ET12 or less) but unless you find someone who has used your exact wheels and tyres (same exact model) before the only way to be certain is to try it and see.

Plenty of folk use them, but IME with low offset wheels the steering is noticeably worse than with wheels of the correct offset.

TY Bruce...I've seen mention of ET20 fitting but I don't know yet.
