I'm confused about hub size 74.1-72.56
Over the weekend I purchased a lovely set of BBS RC302 wheels for my Red ride. Now, I bought these understanding the E24 hubs were 72.56mm for which these wheels were perfect, but when I went to test fit them today, I discovered my hubs are 74.1mm. WTF!!!!
Did I misunderstand what I'd been reading or is my car different?
As I need to fix this regardless, can anyone point me in the direction for getting the correct hub centric rings with OD 82mm with ID 74.1mm. The rings that were in the wheels I've been able to remove so just need to chase down a supplier of the correct rings.

Re: I'm confused about hub size 74.1-72.56
Your hubs are 72.56mm, not 74.1 as you stated. All E24s have the same 72.56mm hubs. I think you just got confused and listed it backwards.
You've figured out you need hub hubcentric 72.56 to 74.1 rings. Most tire stores carry them. Pep Boys I know has them.

Hi Bigboystoy,
if it's not modified, the hubs are 72.56mm for e24 ( all gens ), whilst rc302 came with 74.1mm ( originally e39 fitment), hence you'll need the hubcentric rings. I got the exactly same type of rings in a nearby bmw servcice shop for a few bucks.
Cheers!

Re: I'm confused about hub size 74.1-72.56
So after a good sleep, I again checked out the hub sizes this morning. Using one of the spigot rings I removed from the new wheels, I tried it on all four hubs. To my surprise the LHS (passenger side) of the car was 72.5mm whilst the RHS (drivers side) was 74.1mm.
With a bright torch and a wire brush I discovered the RHS had spigots stuck to the hubs and as I only test fitted this side, that's why I got the measurements I did. As for the wheels I took off, the LHS wheels had the spigots stuck in them whilst the RHS were left on the hubs. Anyways, on the new wheels, 2 of the 4 fitted spigots were not usable so they needed replacing anyway. So, I'm off to purchase the correct 72.5mm hub spigots for the wheels. Thanks all for the answers.

After a bit of filing, grinding and gentle belting with a hammer, I was able to get the hub rings back into a usable state for the short term until new ones arrive.
These are not the best photo's but you get the idea. Next on the list is to get rid of the SUV stance.
