Where does jack go?

Post by goodm3 »

Hello from Miami, FL! Does anybody have pics of where the jack and lug wrench and first aid kit are stored in the trunk?

The jack tucks in a rack over the left rear wheelwell (US version), in a pocket formed by the fender and wheel tub. The lug wrench nests in the same spot.

I've never had a 6er with a first aid kit, so can't help with that.

Cars that have a provision for a first aid kit, have a storage compartment in one of the trunk side panels for it. There is also a bracket, I think from a 7 series, that screws onto the side panel and holds a first aid kit. Since I don't have a storage compartment, I will go with the bracket

Old thread, but I'll post a pic for future reference:

This setup varies somewhat by year. Wheel chock is hidden in the front of the compartment, pinned in place by the jack, and I don't think that's the correct clamp, either.

Should it go over both the jack and the lug wrench, or just the jack? Maybe I had it turned 180-degrees the wrong way, to cover both? realoem does show it the opposite to the way I tried. And, they show it with the jack crank facing up, whcich is also opposite to the way I have the jack in the compartment. I'll play with it more tomorrow, Thanks.

Looking at it again, the clamp looks similar, but have a look at the two jacks. Mine is a rectangular channel, yours is tubular. I think the clamp has to match the jack. Anyone?

Hoping this old thread is stilling watched - does anyone have any info / pics on how the jack, wrench and chock are supposed to fit in cars that have the first aid kit cubby hole? When I got the car the bits were under the spare wheel and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to fit them in that recess as the cut out for the first aid kit gets in the way of the wrench! I think I may also have the wrong or mission bracket - mine is a flatter one which I think is actually to do with the spare wheel fittings (any advice on that appreciated too!)

Lastly - where is the towing eye supposed to be stored - as fr as I know it doesn't go in the toolkit?

Thanks
James
