Hey All -
Relatively new to the forum. Have a US Spec 1986 635csi. A/C equipped. Am upgrading the audio system with a Nakamichi head unit (MBVI) which will be a tight squeeze. Using all new wiring, new speakers, amp, etc. In scoping out install depth (not a lot of room back there...), I've noticed there is some foam stuck behind some plastic pins. I have found that it is possible to remove the foam, which reveals a narrow gap in the AC system plenum (or at least I think that's what it is). Does anyone know the purpose of this insulation? Am trying to figure out what kind of room I have to work with to install the new head unit.
Thanks in advance for the guidance.
