Interior Work

Post by TBM »

Got the inkling to start cleaning up wiring and do some general cleanup....
took out the center console and of course there are unexpected issues. The lower carpet cladded pieces fell apart on me... I'm having it fixed now but I also discovered some broken plastic on the front plastic piece bridging the two shaped plywood sides... Can anyone tell me what the pieces was for?

Also...There was sound and heat insulation below the shifter area. Can you still get that or have to make your own?

Hey,
While you're in there do you think one of these could be installed in the narrow area next to the window switches? It's pretty thin, and there's not much room under there I know, but I really want to find a way to make it work.

I put one in my corvette...

That would have been nice...The area is cramped with wires and sound deadening...

What are the dimensions of this piece? I can measure after and let you know

I think you could position it just above the top edge of the carpet, and have clearance behind it inside the center console. But, would it be close enough to the floor, since the floor is actually what would support the bottle? I think that's the problem. Interesting idea, though.

Not for a bottle DW. For cups (tapered), which is mostly what I use ...drive thru. A LARGE plastic mcdonalds etc... cup fits snug with no chance of it coming unstowed even with hard cornering. Also holds most smaller plastic or paper cups just as well. I cut the bottom off a plastic cup to stick in there for either an adapter for really small cups or a bottle.
They make another with the same dimensions for bottles, and for a vertical mount! They're a little pricey but I couldn't be happier with the one in the vette. If I can make it fit, I'll have one in both e24's!

Let us know if it works out. I wouldn't mind having one.
