Newbie working on vents - is it possible to close all vents?

Post by desertkyorugi »

Working on new to me 84 Euro. Is it possible to shut off all vents so there's nothing coming into the cabin? By sliding all 3 vent sliders to the left?

I believe I have a leaky heater core and coolant smell gets on everywhere with the vents. Eventually I will pull the HVAC box out to make the proper repairs but in the meantime I would like to stop smelling coolant fumes.

Thanks.

The sliders control airflow into the cabin, but even closing all three (slid to the left) won't keep the coolant smell out. You'll have to bypass the heater valve or fix the leak in the heater core.
