M6 Cruise Control - Is there a light when engaged?

Post by stugilmour »

My cruise works fine and correctly disengages with the clutch and brake. I have used the car so infrequently I don't recall if here is a dash warning light to tell you the cruise is engaged? I thought I remember one, but could be thinking of a different vehicle.

Thx

Thanks Ross. No need to take the dash apart.

I never have figured out the thinking behind an on/off switch on a cruise control system. On is the set switch, off is the brake, clutch or the stalk's off position if present. A switch to turn the thing on is redundant and unnecessary electrically. Hell, my father's Chrysler from the early '70s only had a button on the turn signal switch to set it or bump the speed setting. KISS.

Had to replace the on/off switch on the motor home some time back. A troubleshooting and parts replacement excercise that could have been avoided with simpler engineering.

Wait, I am bitching about complicated systems on a BMW forum? Never mind, I'll grab another beer and research the next repair on the 6.
