I think I have the "comfort" seats, but the leather bottom is hard as can be, and the padding underneath is not very thick....
Does anyone have an estimate of what it takes to replace the bottom leather piece, and rebuild with new foam?
I've seen the post with the $310 seat pad.... is this the best way to go?

There are a few things you can do to soften up the leather, including treatments from Gliptone (my favorite) and Leatherique (also very good, but more $ and doesn't smell as nice). Leatherique also makes great products for recoloring and repairing leather. If you're successful at that, you might shop a few local upholstery shops and see if they can make a custom foam pad for the bottom, which will be less $ and easier with the comfort seats.
Here's a thread I started on the Gliptone a little while ago:

I have the same problem. Will you update this thread as you make progress? Maybe with some photos?
Thanks!

Re: Leather seat bottom is hard, and padding is flat....
I would like to see a "real" auto upholstery guy, like the custom guys on tv, carve out a better bottom foam for sport seats. Something with more pronounced side bolsters and a center with real support that doesn't feel like you're stretching the leather to it's limit when you sit on it. With nice stand-up pleating! Comfort seats to me are a disaster as designed.

Re: Leather seat bottom is hard, and padding is flat....
To prop things up a bit on the seat bottom, I inserted a piece of carpet between the springs and the padding. It helped quite a bit, and was an easy temporary "fix".
