I just scored a pair of E24 manual sport seats needing restoration. After looking them over, one thing isn't clear to me: how do you properly separate the brackets/rails from the bottom of the seats? They don't seem to just bolt up to the bottom of the seats, as is the case with comfort seats.
Also, can these brackets/rails be used with any vintage Recaro seat (such as LX, LS) if I decide to go that route?

Hey Larry. The bottom separates from the rails by removing the 2 pins at the front hinges and removing the bolts at the rear hinge arm that controls seat height. Same process as electric sport seats that you should be able to find in some previous posts here.

Re: Questions re: Manual Sport Seats
Thanks Ralph. For the past couple weeks I've been on a steep learning curve about E24 seats and now realize these aren't the ones I'm going to use. In fact, the bolt pattern on them indicates they were out of an E30 and required the use of adapters in whatever E24 they were removed from.
For now I've decided to try repairing all the power functions on my comfort seats; if that doesn't work out as I hope, I'll be looking for the rails used on manual seats so I can eventually convert to manual Recaros. I'd just do it now, but (appearance-wise) my comforts are minty plus finding and properly restoring a nice set of Recaros would be quite spendy.

Comforts are easy to repair plus I have lots of parts for them. Let me know what you need when you get it figured out. Usually the mounting screws for the gear box get loose and the gears loose contact.
