Removing gear shift console

Post by Wilco »

1980 Euro 5 speed. How do I get the gear shift console off. I've removed every screw I can find, but it seems to be attached somewhere in the front of the a/c heater control panel. Need to remove it to replace the carpet and get the a/c heater control knobs attached to the long rods that run down into the dash. That should be lots of fun in itself. Any help, especially photos, would be helpful.

My '85 is different, but there may be 2 similarly-placed screws you're missing. Drop the glove box, and do the same on the driver's side lower dash trim panel. There should be a screw on each side of the console in the far corner.
