Unlabeled dash switch

Post by Taglawdc »

Just purchased 1989 E24 (my 1st). There is an unlabeled push button switch on dash, left of steering column and below (separate from) electronic info pad, that is not referenced in manual. I have not figured out what it controls. Attached is photo cropped from a different car for sale that is marked with icon but too small for me to understand. Info would be appreciated.

It's the window deactivation switch. When activated it electrically disconnects all the window switches so they can't be used. I've heard it called a breaker, but the one in my 633 appeared to be a normal switch when I had it out. Maybe the 'breaker' refers to breaking the circuit.

Switch is on page 32 of the 88-89 owners manual. Here's a copy for your use. If this link doesn't work, PM me your email and I send it to you. Roger

The earlier cars had a physical circuit breaker which, when pushed, popped out and showed a red band around the button.
They are ALWAYS rustier than you thought!!!!!!
