Si board batteries

Post by ilouie »

Hi, and thank you in advance. I have 2 questions for 2 issues I’m having. I have a 1985 e24 that I’m rebuilding.

1. I’ve removed the Instrument Cluster to fix the Odom Gear and also removed the SI board batteries, but the connectors broke. Can I drive the car without the batteries, what would it do, or how do I re-install batteries?..

2. I am also fixing the dashboard so I’ve left the IC off, but now the battery is not charging. Does the IC have a wire that would power the Alternator?...

Again, thanks..

The alternator light in the ic excites the circuit for the alt to charge.
