Cloth Interior Cleaner?

Post by kylefav390 »

I just bought a used black cloth Recaro on craigslist and it's pretty dirty. I was wondering what products you guys have used to clean a cloth interior and what results you had. I'm looking to give this seat a good deep cleaning to hopefully breath a little life into it before I put it in the car.

I've used Blue Coral upholstery cleaner. The key is to rinse and use a soft brush to minimize the pilling of the nap. More like blot rather than brush. Worst was my mom's car and she was a heavy smoker. Ugh.

+1 for Blue Coral. With ANY product you have to be careful, but this stuff seems to clean better than anything else I've tried.

I recently bought a 628 which had been in a barn for 20+ years with smashed glass. Naturally the beige cloth was filthy and I had no option other than to scrub it. The pilling was dreadful, but once it had dried, I removed most of it with one of those battery operated “bobble shavers” which SWMBO uses for her jumpers. End result was very satisfactory, although I was not popular with ‘er indoors 😉

Thanks for the pointers guys! Blue Coral seems to be the consensus.
