Early OBC Display

Although I have a post 84 chassis I have the early model OBC. Since i have a custom dash is only used for outside temp and clock and I do find the clock handy. Lately the far left digit has started blinking. Is the only fix to replace the input unit, or can this be pulled apart and somehow repaired?
