Blower Replacement with Bosch

Post by Microang »

So my heater blower started making a horrible noise and it seems it's finished as the shaft is moving all over the place.

So I went online and found you can't get the Hella (BEHR) one anymore, but I found that on US ebay they list Bosch 0 130 063 013 as compatible and from the pictures it looks right and it's pretty inexpensive. However on the UK site people and parts sites list it as a part for a Ford Escort. Has anyone tried this before? Will it work? ](*,)

I am not in Blighty, so can’t comment on the Ford Escort motor, but I did use the same Bosch motor when I replaced mine with no issues. Hardest part is getting the hamster wheels off the shafts without screwing them up.

Suspend the motor over a pot with boiling water. One side of the blower cage dipping into the water at a time. I used two long chop sticks or kebab skewers. Warmed up the plastic enough that the cages were easily removed. Make sure to mark the depth they are installed on the shaft so you can replicate on the new motor or you will have them rubbing against the housing and making an awful racket.

Thanks, I have it all sorted now. Motor worked perfectly and found a guide on the benz forum with the boiling water trick. I recommend everyone uses these for replacement as it's worth a punt rather than wasting £250+ at the dealer for the same thing.

Hi, the motor in my 89 635 has dies, it is a Bosch 0130063012 , would anyone know if a 0130063013 motor will work, I found a used BEHR one but its bigger than the Bosch and won't fit.

rod635, that's the blower motor that I used in my car ('84 633) and it works great. Use the boiling water trick to get the fans off, and don't forget to mark their alignment prior to removal so everything stays balanced on re-assembly.

Dudes;
Before I remove the squirrel cages, should I be concerned with finding a balance marker so the new one won't be outta balance as it rotates? Or just mark the left & right on the spindle? :-k

Thanx in advance,,,Greg

Hey kids - Just a warning to BE CAREFUL when doing the boiling water removal technique. When the squirrel cage finally let go, it really let go and splashed boiling water on my hand. My little trip to the neighborhood ER for a 2nd degree scald burn ate up whatever savings I had by buying just the motor. ](*,) (And it hurts, too.)
