Heater & Fan Issue

Post by GregNZ »

Hi all,
My car does not have AC.
I have two issues with the heater / fan;
1) The heater remains hot regardless of where the dial is turned - ie the heat does not turn off when the controller is turned anti clockwise to cold
2) The fan does not initially increase speed when the dial is turned until almost fully rotated when it suddenly goes from nothing to full blast. The fan obviously works but control is an issue.

Has anyone had similar issues and is there a check and or fix or am i up for new controllers for both?

Thanks

Sounds like the flap that lets outside air in is stuck open and that the transistor that controls the fan speed is burned out. Anyone else??

I reckon it’s the transistor as Bert says, plus the heater valve has failed.
