Swapping 86/86 sport seats into 88/89 car - anyone done it

Post by tgriffith009 »

Hey all,

Im building a set of gray 88/89 sports seats for my 635. Seats came from an early car and our power. Has anyone taken the time to do the wiring and make them work? Is it possible?

Thanks - Taylor

It should be possible. The big difference may be if it has the memory or not. I imagine that will mean slightly different connector, but wire colors may be the same between the two.

I removed a set of electric Highline seats which had been fitted into a 1986 car, so they will definitely fit. You'll just need the wiring loom which runs under the carpet, alongside the transmission tunnel and plugs into the junction box fitted onto the firewall. An easy installation!
