One touch windows

Post by ron »

Some time ago someone put a topic on the Big coupe group site about one touch power windows.Basically it was a mod. to have the windows move full travel with one press of the switch instead of holding the switch until full travel was achieved. The link on the site to the originator goes nowhere now, so has anyone done the mod.and what is the relay required and the wiring involved?

Haven't done it, but know of at least one guy who has. He thought it was cool, then I showed him my window operating without the key in the ignition :)

Enjoy!

OK Ron, if at first you don't succeed . . .

Here is a module available from BMP Design, link also attached.

Perhaps this is the "missing link" from the BCG info.

Once again, good luck and let us know if you purchase and install!

Thanks for the link Bob,but I don't intend spending $130.00 plus postage for the relay.I'm sure a relay from a later model could be used as most of the later ones had one-touch windows. It is just a case of sorting the wiring out. Thanks again.Regds.Ron.

Here is the current link from Big Coupe Group Library:
http://home.normgrills.net/bcg/Body_Int ... or37033795 with functional link to the manufactures site, the Autoloc module actually works much better then the initially listed one and sells for around US $35. It should also be available in the UK through a few distributors. The installation is easy, the module is small enough to fit in the shifter console underneath the power window switch, no major wiring modifications are required.

But then, Bob's fuse modification works too and does not require a key in the ignition.

Ron, have you tried RS Components, Farnells or Maplins here in the UK?

Ron, would be no problem, contact me via email. I buy a lot of linear actuators from them, would have thought that there is a U.K. distributor by now.

One Touch Windows

Post by ron »

Have obtained a WC 1000 relay and unfortunately due to the circuit wiring
it will only operate one window.I'm going to try a modification to get it to
operate both front windows (not together obviously).
Will try to do a Tech. on it.

Oops, course you have. But from the lit it suggests it will do all the windows - I found it from a roadfly thread - dnd was there - and it seems to suggest one unit can do all the windows

How are you getting on with your mod?

true!

this was the answer to my question about the quantity of WC1000 units i should buy to make all windows one-touch:
roadfly wrote: When I did my front windows I ended up buying two units. It was quicker and cheaper than buying the dual unit. Doing them at once made the wiring a little easier too.

I put the units under the panel that covers the Ebrake handle, just behind the window switches. It was less wiring and plenty of room.

There is an option to clip a wire-loop on it which was required of mine. I allows more current to operate before stopping the window. Otherwise it just jolted then stopped and didn't operate the window.

Try it first before clipping it.

Its great to be able to enter a hot car and hit both window switches at once with one hand and both windows drop.

Thought about doing the sunroof but never did it.

Relays etc from an E34?

Post by UKDaveJ »

Hi guys,

I've recently bought a '95 E34 520i manual.

It has one touch down/open on ALL windows & the sunroof, with just the drivers window & 'roof on a one touch close.

Would the relays etc from one of these work on an E24 me wonders?
If yes, should be easy to get from a scrap-yard etc.

Just a thought.

The PO installed the Autoloc kit on my E30 M3 - I call them "two touch" windows because you have to press the switch twice if you just want to lower the window partially a - PITA. They're "one touch" only if you want to lower the window completely - great if you drive by toll booths all day! I wouldn't install them "my own self".

My $.02...
