E24 rear wheel-arch repair sections

Post by UKDaveJ »

Does anyone know where I can get one of these from please? My o/s/r requires replacement according to my bodyshop.

I have contacted Walloth & Nesch in Germany as they used to have them on their website, but no longer list them. I'm hoping they will reply advising whether they have discontinued that line or not.

Where else can I go? As far as I'm aware BMW don't do repair sections for E24 rear wheel-arches.

Thanks in advance,

That is bad news.

UK cars probably suffer most from rusting wheelarches - my offside rear one is starting to go, so it looks like a trip down the MacMetals bodyshop.

Are we looking at asking W&N to see whether they can get a batch made for the UK market?

BMW can supply rear arches.......

Post by UKDaveJ »

I've spoken to my local stealer who can confirm the following;

outer: n/s 41211886335 - ?275.75 + VAT
outer: o/s 41211886336 - same price

inner: n/s 41141882593 - ?174.47 + VAT
inner: o/s 41141920806 - same price

7 days delivery from Germany!

Thats ?529 per side........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I havn't got my ETK with me so cannot confirm EXACTLY what those numbers relate to, but, I was most specific in asking about rear wheel arch repair sections.

No reply from W&N as yet to my 'please help' email as below;

"Dear Alexander,

Thank you for your reply.

This is bad news for many of us trying to keep BMW
E24's going, in the UK we have problems with road-salt
which has a habit of eating rear arches!

As you used to supply these would you not consider
doing a batch run for E24 owners in the UK?
What minimum quantities would you need to run?
Do W&N own the tools that produced these arches?

If you were buying them from another supplier, could
you please put me in touch with them as I need 2 sets
of arches just for my cars & I know other owners who
also need sets.

Thanks,

David"

W&N latest communication.......

They may as well have said bollox to you - I wouldn't mind but they didn't even attempt to answer the questions I put to them in the previous email, as already posted regarding tools ownership etc.......

"Dear Mr. Jerromes,

sorry we can?t produce the parts again.

Latest email sent to W&N following their flat NO anwer...;

"Thanks for your latest reply Alexander.

Do I gather from your reply that you own the tools
that made these arches?
If you are not prepared to make any again, how much
would you be willing to sell the forming tools for?

If you had enough orders, would you be willing to
produce these again? There is definitely demand!

Why are you not prepared to make/supply these any
more?

Thank you,

David"

Alternative rear-arches from alternative suppliers etc

Post by UKDaveJ »

Ok, so BMW can supply new rear arches at highly exhorbitant prices, I wondered what other BMW rear arch has a similar profile that could act as the 'donor'? There are numerous non-BMW suppliers of body panels, I'd hope that they may carry another BMW arch that is close enough?

Anyone every gone down this route?

I'm thinking E28, E34 etc......?

Just hoping against hope & all that!

Not being able to get rear-arches at sensible money will do one of several things long term;

a) consign many to the scap pile, or

b) lead to horrendous bodges (Ivans' point me thinks.......)

c) add to the cost of keeping immaculate 6'ers should owners go down the BMW supply route!

We all need to club together & make a fuss to BMW Mobile Tradition, there are some lovely 6'ers out there, but accidents & rust will cause many arches to die along the way......!

DAve :evil:
