Well her's mine after merging 3 partial toolkits

Sadly some of the wrenches are not correct and some of the tools are rustier than I would prefer.

Here are the leftovers, everything in the picture is up for grabs including the tray if anyone needs anything. The screwdrivers are already spoken for :)

I'm a tool kit junkie

Post by Roku35 »

I am embarressed to say that I am a Took Kit Junkie. Started with my father in laws broken-up set (535is), but once I got my first 635csi with a perfect set of tools, the madness began. My next euro E24 didn't have any worthy tools so Ebay and my local CL were my best friends for trunk tools #-o Three sets later?

I am putting 2 tool kits together to sell. One with green handled screw drivers and one with the red ones. They will be ready next week if anyone is interested. Red handled kit will be $285, green handled will be $255. Both plus shipping. I will post with pictures in the for sale section as soon as they are together.

When I'm sorting through my junk in the garage, the initial separation is always...Parts Or Tools. Then you get to the HYCOs and think well they ARE most assuredly TOOLS.Good ones at that .They have BMW Part numbers and or ordered through the BMW Parts department.So they are PARTS.

Oh My God, no we are throwing in INTERIOR & EXTERIOR into the mix??

now my heads starting to spin

M6Zealot's is a nice example of an M635CSi tool kit.

But....a little quiz....

1) What is a visible difference between this and a standard 635CSi toolkit?

2) What is missing from this kit?

cheers

The plug spanner is the visible difference. I'm currently stumped by what is missing. .

Extra spanner? Never seen it myself, but there was some mention of one wrapped in greased paper somewhere.

well that was clearly too easy; those are what I was thinking of, too!

The additional spanner is listed on the ETK IIRC, and was supplied like you say, loose and wrapped up separately

yes, but here's the thing; I'm not sure which one.... :roll:

http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E24/C ... box_large/

lists seven items against #12 and #13.

We have;

Open ended;
10/11, 12/13, 17/19, 8/10

Ring (Box) ended;
8/10, 12/13, 17/19

There are only six slots in the tray...most 6ers (AFAIK) came with six...

But... all seven are listed as applicable to all E24. But I am told that the seventh spanner was only supplied with M635 and M6 models, and it is a small one.

So, who knows about the mysterious seventh spanner??

cheers

I think the open ends were without the 10/11 which was probably an available addition even giving the owner an option of what he wanted in his kit. Also the wrenches dealer available, are not as original since BMW is not stamped into the shank

Time taken to reach terminal velocity is directly proportional to the contents. :lol:

Re the wheel lock nut I made a small foam pocket in the very front of the armrest tray. As it was some time before I realised these existed I figured probably the best hiding place.

I'm just after discovering that tool no.20 is missing from my tool kit. In fact, I've never had a no.20

Great. Just when I need it most.

some window motors have the adaptor built into them, so you don't need a #20 tool. On one of my cars it doesn't need the #20 tool at all and on the other one it needs it for the back windows but not the front.

If your window is slow going up, sometimes you can just 'help the glass up' by hand whilst someone else prods the button, and that works well enough.

If it doesn't move at all it is worth trying different switch; sometimes they corrode internally, but not all contacts are affected equally.
