How to change H1 low beam on my '84 Euro M6?

Post by E9erCS »

I have a Euro M635CSi built in August "84, with its original two-piece headlamp system and external headlight washers.

The Driver's side H1 is burned out. After removing the airbox it appears that I cannot get at the bulb from the inside, but will have to go in through the front grille.

Can anyone provide any guidance as to how complicated this will be to do?

Thanks,

--Steve

#19 & 20 tab go thru the cover for access to the bulbs.

Twist tab to unlock and pull out and up to remove.

lol, this little job is tough if you have man hands. I think BMW used Lilliputian workers to assemble these units. I would add that you might consider replacing your "city light" bulb while you're in there.

Once you remove the cover referenced above: you remove the rubber cap from the back of the light and twist caps 12 or 13 to gain access to the offending bulb.
