Hi, just had my e24 painted and need help with a guide of refitting the sunroof. If there's a write up or advice or maybe a specialist in the Leicester area who can provide there expertise. Any assistance would be greatful.

Thanks
Raj

If you put your car model/year etc.in your profile it would help. There are 2 different types of sunroof.

Whilst you are at it put your location in as well.

I suspect you will find all you need to know by heading to the board index of this forum, then tech articles, then E24 shop manuals thread.
Good luck

The E28 Bentley manual explains this very well, despite being for a different car! As above, you'll find links to on-line write ups galore in the tech section. It's actually quite straightforward once you work out what to do with the trim panel.

Good luck,

Rob

With the help of a second person it's not not that big deal. Just did it to my M635.
Prior installation I'd reccomend to check the roof lining on the inner sunroof. I had to do it twice because the lining went off as I wanted to pull it back forward after everything else was done. The foam inside the lining tends to crumble...

I'm not sure who wrote this post, but I could not remember how to remove the sunroof to save my life! "quite straightforward", indeed. I couldn't work out what to do with the trim panel either! Luckily Phil's post was a bit more helpful than this.

After I have done a job its usually straightforward in the head - 6 months later and its all a blur and have not got a clue

Its the problem with being an amateur, always get a task sussed just as you end it.

Be aware that when you insert it there are "timing" or alignment marks on each side to make sure the cables are even

I did this not too long ago. A real PITA. I removed it myself and it wasn't too difficult. putting it back in is a two man job for sure. three would be even better as I found myself trying to guide the roof back (without the guides) with my hands, another person doing the same on the passenger side and me somehow using my toe to actuate the sunroof button. I'm not a fan of how they designed the system at all. I can't offer any useful advice beyond that.
