Help Identifying a Foha Spoiler

Post by Charlesm3 »

Hi all,
I recently picked up a Foha rear trunk spoiler that I am trying to identify. The ID number is KBA35356.
Anyone have a clue which model it is for? E24, E12, E28?
Thanks in advance,
Charles

Thanks. I Googled for an hour today and never saw that listing. A member on First Fives schooled me and I learned tonite that the number I provided (KBA35356) is not a part number but more of a DOT equivalent. He tells me the part number for e 28 is 1227 and for e12 it's 1216.

The eBay listing states 1227 for an e24 so I'm still a little confused. I'll go back and check my spoiler for a 4 digit part number tomorrow.

I'll update when I figure it out.

Measure the width. The FOHA just about reaches the edges of the fenders, beyond the edges of the trunklid. The E24 body is a few inches wider than an E28, so that should give you a pretty good guess.

BTW, if it does turn out to be for an E24, and you're looking for a buyer, you might check with "juiceof07", as I know he's looking for some sort of rear spoiler for his '87. He's in North Florida.

Turns out the seller in the EBay link you sent is wrong and the 1227 spoiler is for an e28 sedan. Someone on the First Fives forum cleared it all up and sent this scan from the FOHA catalogue. Mystery solved.
Thnx

Wow, pretty cool to see an original brochure. Glad you got it figured out.

Dean, my 2 piece spoiler came from the UK and extends past the trunk on both sides. Most of the ones I see here don't go beyond the deck lid. It's a BMW part and I found installation instructions on the web with PNs.

Anybody know who got which?

Jack,

The 2-piece BMW OEM rear spoiler is the later M-Tech version used on the US M6 (and other Euro E24'S , too) does extend slightly onto the fenders. IMO it balances well with the larger bumpers on the US cars as well as the world bumpers, but I like the earlier single-piece rubber spoiler with the slim Euro bumpers on the earlier cars.

.... but I see 6s with a narrower 2 piece unit too that does not extend over the fenders.

I'm not sure what you've seen, but I did see an E28 M-Tech spoiler on an E24, and it was slightly narrower than the trunk. On cars this old, there's no telling what you might see that's.nor original.
