LHD Wing Mirrors for RHD Car

Post by arif »

Hi all,
I want to change my wing mirrors to chrome ones, I read somewhere that LHD wing mirrors will not fit a RHD car....really?

I've seen a pair of LHD mirrors so some help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I think they're all interchangeable - well, Euro models at least!

The mirrors will physically interchange without issues but the mirror glass is different. The LHD and RHD glass distorts the reflections differently depending on side and market.

The right hand mirror for a LHD car has "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear" at the bottom. The mirror is convex. The left hand (drivers side in LHD) is flat.

They are not designed to be interchangeable, although of course they will fit. There is a difference between the angle of the passenger mirror housing and driver mirror housing. If you look carefully at the mirrors on your car you will see the passenger side mirror housing is angled towards the window far more than the driver's side. The glass is different as well, in fact there are at least three kinds of glass; driver side glass (flat), passenger side glass (slightly wide angle), and extreme wide angle which was an option on both sides. I have a brand new chrome passenger mirror for a LHD drive car (to fit the right-hand side of the car) and you can see that it's angled much more towards the car than RHD driver's mirror.

Thanks for the answers guys,
And sorry for the late late reply, life took over and the six had to take a back burner.

Looks like I'm going to be selling some LHD mirrors
