Stone guard on rear fenders?

Post by ozbmwnut »

Hi Everyone. Can anyone on here please show me pics of how the rear fenders look ex factory will regard to the rough "stone guard" painted finish? I am 99% certain it was on both rear fenders below the rear Bumper extensions, but did it follow the bumper all the way around, including the rear section between under bumper and the exhaust pipes? i am doing some cleanup works on mine, and want to get it correct. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Mine's an 86 model, side guards have the stone chip guard, rear section is smooth, the surface finish changes on the curve.

As far as I know this is factory, though no doubt there are variations out there.

My '84 633 has the US bumpers but the rough stone guard is only on the side while the rear valence is smooth.

Gentlemen, thank you all for the responses.

Thanks, too, Mr E for the pic. That is exactly what i need to show my panel beater. What you show is precisely what i thought it would be like. Could i bother you for another shot from the side of the car, to try and see what sort finish the "orange peel" effect should look like? thanks again.

Here's a couple - hard to tell much from these, but at least there's some dirt on the guard
