Series one Sill/Rocker finish.

Post by olympia57 »

Following on from the recent thread re the OE finish to the rear lower quarter panels am I correct in saying that series one cars had a factory black stonechip finish under the trim strip on the sill/rocker panels ?
When I restored mine I checked some sales brochures for the series one and they "seemed " to have the black finish so I went ahead and finished them likewise.
Was this as it was supplied from factory or should it be bodycolour ?

They were body colour on my old 633, though they often looked pretty black.

I have always thought they were body colour from the factory, which kept the styling consistent with the colour along the rear valence.

Could have been a regional thing - different countries may have had different specs for body protection, countries with more challenging weather conditions may have been prepared with additional stonechip guard for harsher weather and corrosion protection, maybe?

Olympia57, please pardon the thread highjack, but I need to enquire with Ellis

Ellis, I noticed that you mention having an old 633, but you have a 635 nameplate on the boot lid :-k

Could you use a 633 nameplate \:D/

You can have it for whatever it costs to get it down under [-o<

Olympia57, thank you again, I would have sent Ellis a PM but I don't think we can attach photos in PM's :-({|=
